Power Innovation with Code and Build Your Future in Computer and Information Science
New undergraduates have three degree options: the B.A. in Computer Science, the B.S. in Computer Science, and the B.S. in Data Science. Each degree offers a rigorous and rewarding academic curriculum designed to promote analytical thinking and complex problem solving. Teaching is conducted in a supportive environment featuring a low student-to-faculty ratio and a strong emphasis on student success.
For prospective graduate students, our computer and information science faculty are conducting interdisciplinary research in areas of analysis and visualization, bioinformatics, machine learning, heterogeneous systems, security and privacy, and intelligent multimedia research. Please visit our research page to learn more and contact our faculty members directly to inquire about current openings in their labs.

How to Choose Between the BACS, BSCS, and BSDS?
The B.A.C.S. is conferred through the . The degree offers a broader, more flexible curriculum that pairs a solid grounding in computer science with room for exploration across the humanities, social sciences, and other disciplines. The B.A. requires a minor in another field of study. It's a great fit for students interested in the intersection of technology and fields like business, policy, linguistics, and the sciences.
The B.S.C.S. is conferred through the School of Engineering. The degree is a rigorous, technically intensive program built for students who want to go deep into the mathematical and scientific foundations of computing. It is ideal for those pursuing careers in software engineering, systems development, research, or graduate study in CS or a related field. It places strong emphasis on mathematics, natural sciences, and upper-level CS theory.
The B.S.D.S. is tailored for students who want to harness the power of data to solve real-world problems. Blending coursework in statistics, machine learning, data management, and computational methods, this program prepares graduates for careers in data analysis, business intelligence, research, and beyond.
Which Graduate Program is Right for You?
For those ready to go beyond the foundations and push the boundaries of what they know, graduate study in Computer Science opens doors that an undergraduate degree alone cannot. Whether you're looking to deepen your expertise, accelerate your career, or contribute original knowledge to the field, our department offers two graduate degrees designed to meet you where you are and take you where you want to go. Both degrees are conferred through the School of Engineering and .

The M.S. is an excellent choice for students wanting to advance their technical knowledge and position themselves for leadership roles in industry or research. The M.S. program offers rigorous coursework building on your undergraduate foundation, taking you deeper into areas such as algorithms, systems, artificial intelligence, and more. It is a natural stepping stone for those who may wish to pursue doctoral study in the future.
The Ph.D. is designed for students with a passion for discovery and a desire to advance the state of the art in their chosen area of research. Doctoral study is a serious, long-term commitment — and an extraordinarily fulfilling one. Our Ph.D. students work closely with faculty to tackle open problems, produce original research, and contribute meaningfully to the global scientific community. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in academic research, industry research labs, and senior technical leadership.
